STEP IT {global_step_name} | We have been teaching since 1999. High-quality IT-education for adults and children. We prepare programmers, designers and system engineers who cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence. In order to achieve this, we teach how to understand tasks, run projects and work in a team, in addition to core knowledge.

A TOUR OF THE SOFTWARE AND COMPUTER MUSEUM

It is always interesting to find out where everything began and where it all came to. That's how the students of HTU "STEP" decided to see the origins of the IT industry with their own eyes and visited the November 7, 2018 Software and Computer Museum, which features more than 250 exhibits. More than half a century of history was on display at the museum.

Against the backdrop of the historical time line exhibits, led by the head of the Department of IT

к.т.н., доц. Candidate of Technical Sciences, doc. Zamula Alina Alexandrovna…and somewhere there is also the rector.

It is a pity that you can not use the exhibits, although some of them are still in working order and can be used in everyday work.
A couple of facts about the now distant 1970s.
The students plunged into the history of software and computer technology development. We saw the history of the emergence and development of removable storage media: magnetic tape drives (MMD - "drums"), drives on flexible magnetic disks (FMD), which are more commonly known as "floppy disks" with different form factors (8″, 5.25″, 3.5″).
Against the backdrop of a computer with a built-in keyboard .... have you guessed what kind of computer this is? ...Yes, it's the Apple II in all its glory.
The Apple II was the first computer that the Cupertino-based company put into mass production (the corporation was still called Apple Computer at the time). The Apple II was a continuation of the Apple I line, which had never been produced in large quantities, and the first batches of which Steve Jobs and the other co-founders of the company assembled in their garage. The computer was first shown to the public in 1977 at the West Coast Computer Fair, and became one of the most commercially successful personal computers of its time. Apple II computers were produced until the beginning of the 90s, and the operating system was last updated in 1993.
Avid gamers were interested in the first game consoles, and some even shared their experiences, in addition, the retro style is returning to gamedev.
Valentin Bulgakov tests the game console...here he is - the future tester, a profession, which will be taught at our university -
HTU "STEP"
Game consoles with programs on cartridges: Sega, Sony Playstation, Nintendo, Dendy, etc. Did you know that the Dendy console, known to many (author smiley face J) since childhood, is a Taiwanese copy of the Famicom from the Japanese company Nintendo? There were so many of these clones created around the world that they even had their own ironic name, Famiclone. It was on the original console Nintendo Entertainment System - as it was called two years after its release - the famous game Super Mario Bros (well, who does not know the old man Mario ? ) first appeared. Mario character became the mascot of the game console, because thanks to him it became very popular in the world and sold for many years. Then there's the Nintendo GameCube - remember that baby? It was released in 2001, but unlike other consoles it was not using cartridges but a new media format - mini-DVD
And, of course, the history of the emergence and development of Apple has not left anyone indifferent.
Steve Jobs is always with us, with the brave students of KTU "Shag": Valentin Bulgakov, Liana Akopyan, Anastasia Pugach (by the way, Anastasiahas also   moved to KTU "Shag" from another very respected university ... maybe there were good reasons for that? )
Our students actively participated in communication with a representative of the museum and demonstrated their decent level of knowledge.
There are always questions ... but where is the rector!?
We were able to get new information and go to the university for new knowledge and skills.
